Stori: o unicórnio mexicano liderado por uma mulher

Marlene Garayzar, co-founder of Stori, highlighted that this financial services company is the first Mexican unicorn led by a woman.

The company sells services that facilitate money management and promote financial inclusion, such as credit cards with a high approval rate, deposit accounts and service payments, among others.

Garayzar participated this Tuesday in the presentation of the Made in Mexico Advisory Council at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy.

She is one of the more than 200 members of this Council, which includes businessmen, athletes, creators, artists and singers, among others.

Stori has attracted investments from many parts of the world and currently has about 1,200 employees.

The company was founded in 2018, then launched its first credit product in 2020 and succeeded in making this startup a Mexican unicorn in 2022.

At the event, Garayzar commented, “The message I want to give is that we Mexicans can trust ourselves and make our companies other Mexican unicorns. I would like to say that there are more unicorns led by a woman, this is the first one, but it does not mean that there cannot be more”.

The company was recognized in the 2024 Fintech Innovation 50 ranking for being one of the top 50 companies worldwide.

“I am dedicating a lot of my time in this commitment to be able to push more women in the startup world, so that this country has more unicorns and especially more unicorns led by a woman,” Garayzar added.

The Regulations, Competitiveness and Competition Unit will be responsible for authorizing their use and ensuring compliance with the rules. This unit may collaborate with other federal and local authorities to fulfill its functions.
