The National Council of the Export Manufacturing Industry (Index) has appointed Jael Durán as its new General Director.
Index is a civil association founded in 1973. It is currently made up of 18 local associations. It also represents close to 1,300 companies that operate under the IMMEX program. The main objective of this program is to boost Mexican exports.
Jael Durán has a solid international track record. For seven years, she was General Director of the Chamber of Commerce in Canada. During that time, she specialized in designing strategies to strengthen bilateral and multilateral relations. Her focus has been on trade, investment and diplomacy.
The IMMEX Program offers key benefits to industry. It allows the temporary import of inputs needed for industrial or service processes. These processes must be oriented to the elaboration, transformation or repair of foreign merchandise, always with export purposes. Thanks to this scheme, companies do not pay the general import tax, VAT or compensatory quotas, in accordance with current regulations.
Jael Durán
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Language Interpretation and Translation. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Service Delivery from the University Business School in the United Kingdom. In addition, she obtained a certificate in Public Relations from Cornell University.
Between 2009 and 2015, she collaborated with the British Embassy in Mexico. There, she worked as Consular Network Coordinator for Latin America at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Later, she held the position of Director General of the Australian and New Zealand Business Council in Mexico.
According to the Index, she has more than 15 years of experience in the public and private sectors. During that time, she has led strategic projects and exercised leadership roles.
He has also excelled in public and institutional relations management. She is also skilled at building strong relationships with government and business stakeholders at both the state and federal levels.
The Index highlights Jael Durán’s expertise in client relationship management. She also excels in research, analysis and writing of political and economic reports. These reports have been useful in both public and private organizations.
