The Ministry of Economy informed that it will make public in three weeks the digital Data Mexico project, a mega public platform that will concentrate data from the country and that will allow knowing the economic state of Mexico.
Graciela Márquez, Secretary for the Economy, reported that Data México will be a tool that will allow «making links from the local», with data analysis and visualization.
The platform has the collaboration of Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together (MATT) and Datawheel; It will not require a budget item, although it does require the participation of officials to help develop it.
Initially, the first public version of Data México was expected to be working in January 2020.
In charge of the project is Sergio Silva Castañeda, head of the Global Economic Intelligence Unit of the Ministry of Economy.
Data México consists of a three-year collaboration between the Ministry of the Economy, MATT and Datawheel for the creation of a digital tool for data analysis and visualization, the promotion of technical and scientific capacities in the use of data for decision-making and the diffusion of technological tools.

«This public, open-source digital platform will find users among public officials from all three levels of government, businessmen, academics and civil society organizations,» said Márquez in April 2019 when he announced the project.
Another component of Data México consists of the creation of a research node where, jointly, the academy, the private sector and society in general use this tool and the new instruments that Data Science has generated to formulate the most frequently asked questions pressing on the economic development of Mexico and provide the answers to build the foundations for prosperity and well-being in the country.
