Mexico’s heavy vehicle exports registered a 15.7% year-on-year drop in October, to 12,288 units, reported the National Association of Bus, Truck and Tractor Producers (ANPACT).
The automotive sector is one of the most important industries in Mexico, employing more than one million people throughout the country.
The sector is divided into passenger vehicles and vehicles for cargo, construction and agriculture.
Mexico is the sixth largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in the world, producing 3.7 million cars a year.
Heavy vehicles
Mexico is the sixth largest manufacturer of heavy cargo vehicles and is the largest exporter of tractor trucks worldwide.
It is also the fourth largest exporter of heavy goods vehicles and the second largest export market for heavy trucks in the United States.
«October is the best month for exports so far this year, 15.7% less could be a reasonable figure that we could have had throughout the year, but at the time of averaging it, it is 36% less so far this year» commented Miguel Elizalde, executive president of ANPACT.
