Nemak auto parts company has strengthened its structural components and electric vehicle business.
Recently, the company ventured into the production of aluminum parts for these two types of products.
As a result, Nemak had revenue in 2020 of the approximate equivalent of $ 175 million in this business.
As of May 12, 2021, the company had secured production contracts for the same products for different original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) representing about $ 900 million in annual revenue.
Furthermore, 2020 was the fourth year that the electric vehicle and structural components business contributed significantly to the company’s consolidated sales.
Nemak has teams completely dedicated to the development of this business, which includes a specialized sales force, personnel from technology centers in Poland and Mexico, engineering teams in Germany, the United States and Mexico, among other elements.
The company believes that its technology portfolio and global presence will allow it to compete successfully in this market and meet the requirements of its customers.

In 2020, the company obtained total revenues of 66,325 million pesos, of which 45% came from the sale of engine heads; 35% of the sale of monoblocks; 15% of the sale of transmission and other components, and the remaining 5% of structural components and for electric vehicles.
In the context of the company, structural components are parts that make up the body and chassis of the vehicle.
Said parts can be produced in various materials, such as aluminum, steel or magnesium, and include pillars or posts, suspension towers, door frames, cross members, engine mounts, suspension arms and stringers, among others.
For the purposes of the company, the components for electric vehicles are pieces designed to protect the batteries that store the electrical energy necessary to propel the vehicle, as well as the engines and transmissions of said vehicles.
Globally, the company has a portfolio of more than 60 clients, including 10 of the main automotive groups and their subsidiaries, such as BMW, Daimler, Fiat-Chrysler, Ford, GMC, Hyundai-KIA, PSA, Renault- Nissan, Toyota and Volkswagen Group.
It is estimated that, during 2020, Nemak provided more than 200 different components for engines, transmissions and structural components and for electric vehicles, which are used in approximately 650 vehicle platforms that are in production or in the development stage of an approximate of 1,360 vehicle platforms worldwide.
The company has a global presence through 38 plants in 15 countries distributed between North America, Europe, South America and Asia, which allows it to efficiently supply its products to the majority of global automotive manufacturers.
