Oracle Corporation‘s investments in research and development totaled $8.6 billion in the fiscal year ended May 31, 2023, a year-over-year growth of 19.4 percent.

From the company’s perspective, its investments in and innovation with respect to the products and services it offers across its three businesses (cloud and licensing, hardware and services businesses) are an important element of its strategy.

Oracle has a deep understanding of how applications and infrastructure technologies interact and work with each other, including through the use of OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) to power its Oracle Fusion SaaS applications, which both the company itself and its customers use to run internal business processes.

In fiscal 2022 and 2021, the company invested $7.2 billion and $6.5 billion, respectively, in research and development to enhance its existing portfolio of offerings and develop new technologies and services.

Oracle offers products and services for enterprise information technology (IT) environments.

Its products and services include enterprise applications and infrastructure offerings that are delivered worldwide through a variety of flexible and interoperable IT deployment models.

These models include on-premises, cloud-based and hybrid deployments (an approach that combines on-premises and cloud-based deployments), such as the Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer and Dedicated Region offerings (Oracle Cloud instances in the customer’s own data center) and multi-cloud options that enable customers to use Oracle Cloud alongside other public clouds.

As a result, the company offers choice and flexibility to its customers and facilitates the combinations of products, services and deployments that best suit their needs.

Oracle’s customers include enterprises of many sizes, government agencies, educational institutions and resellers to whom it markets and sells directly through its worldwide sales force and indirectly through the Oracle Partner Network.

Using Oracle technologies, its customers build, deploy, run, manage and support their internal and external products, services and business operations.

For example, this includes a global cloud application developer using OCI to power its software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings; a multinational financial institution running its banking applications using Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer; and a global consumer products company leveraging Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning for its accounting, risk management, supply chain and financial planning functions.
