Brazilian exports chicken to the world totaled US$7.078 billion in 2024, up 4% year-on-year, according to statistics from the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC).

The Brazilian government promotes its country’s foreign sales of chicken with a vision of exporting to large deficit markets practically all over the world and with a special focus on the most dynamic markets in prospective.

Brazil leads the world in chicken meat exports, leaving second place, the United States, far behind with 3,267 million dollars in 2024, according to data from the Department of Commerce.

  • Japan: 829 (-11 percent).
  • United Arab Emirates: 540 (+18 percent).
  • Mexico: 534 (+45 percent).

Market diversification

What strengths enable Brazil to be the world’s largest chicken exporter? Large-scale production and low feed costs drive Brazilian competitiveness. In addition, its favorable climate allows for continuous production without interruptions.

The country maintains high sanitary standards and has international certifications that guarantee the quality of its product. It also exports to more than 150 markets, thanks to trade agreements and an efficient production infrastructure. Its capacity to offer a stable supply reinforces its position as a global leader in the sector.

On March 6, the Brazilian government reported that the country obtained Vietnam‘s approval for the International Health Certificate (ISC), allowing the export of chicken offal. This measure strengthens commercial ties with a growing market.

In 2024, Brazil exported products with a customs value of US$4.05 billion to Vietnam. Its sales to that market included cotton, corn, soybeans, wheat, coffee and meats, among other goods. With this milestone, the country adds 32 new market accesses in 2025, reaching 332 new trade channels since 2023, thanks to the partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
