Grupo Carso stores went from 444 at the end of 2023 to 451 at the end of 2024, according to the company’s own data.

First, the number of Sears stores was reduced from 96 to 95. Its sales include clothing, home appliances, electronics, footwear, furniture, toys, perfumery, kitchenware and perfumery, among others.

Sanborns stores also decreased, from 143 to 140. Grupo Carso sells telephones and jewelry, books, chocolate and tableware, as well as clothing, gifts and women’s bags.

In contrast, Grupo Carso increased the number of its iShop stores from 102 to 107. These stores sell Apple products, technology accessories, smart home products, video games and software.

This conglomerate increased from 43 to 45 its Mixup stores, which sell music, movies, cameras, telephones, audio products, laptops, video games, books and gifts, among others.

The number of Dax stores increased from 39 to 46. There they sell electronics and technology products, such as smartphones, security cameras, smartwatches, tablets, and accessories such as chargers and headphones. They also sell household appliances, entertainment items, beauty products, and vehicle and office accessories, all at competitive prices and with attractive promotions.

Finally, Grupo Carso reduced its Sanborns Café from 19 to 17, kept one boutique store and closed one Sanborns Home Fashion store.

Seven businessmen

The Slim family, composed of Carlos Slim Helú, Carlos Slim Domit, Marco Antonio Slim Domit, Patrick Slim Domit, María Soumaya Slim Domit, Vanessa Paola Slim Domit and Johanna Monique Slim Domit, are beneficiaries of a Mexican trust that owns all of the voting stock of Control Empresarial de Capitales S.A. de C.V. This entity, incorporated under Mexican law, is a holding company with various portfolio investments.

The Slim family controls a controlling interest in Grupo Carso, a public company in Mexico. Grupo Carso operates in sectors such as commerce, industry, infrastructure, construction and energy.
