U.S. heavy truck manufacturer PACCAR estimated that heavy vehicle sales in the United States and Canada will be between 250,000 and 280,000 units in 2025.
This projection implies a similar figure to that of 2024, when retail sales in both countries were 268,100 units.
Heavy vehicle sales
PACCAR markets its trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF brands. Production takes place in three plants in the United States, three in Europe and one each in Australia, Brazil, Canada and Mexico. These trucks are used globally to transport commercial and consumer goods, both on- and off-highway.
Over the last decade, from 2015 to 2024, heavy-duty vehicle sales in the United States and Canada averaged 263,000 units annually.
In Europe, it is estimated that between 270,000 and 300,000 trucks over 16 tons will be registered in 2025. This figure would be lower than the 316,100 units registered in 2024.
On the other hand, in South America, projections for 2025 indicate between 115,000 and 125,000 heavy truck registrations, compared to 119,000 in 2024.
