Kenworth tractor-trailer production in Mexico increased at a year-on-year rate of 6.5% in 2024, to 12,189 units.

Over the last four years, this production has grown steadily, according to Inegi data.

The Kenworth brand belongs to the U.S. company PACCAR, which also markets trucks under the Peterbilt and DAF brands.

PACCAR trucks are produced in three plants in the United States and three in Europe. They are also manufactured in Australia, Brazil, Canada and Mexico. These units are used worldwide to transport commercial and consumer goods, both on- and off-highway.

  • 2018: 8,955.
  • 2019: 11,636.
  • 2020: 7,199.
  • 2021: 8,194.
  • 2022: 9,692.
  • 2023: 11,449.
  • 2024: 12,189.

In Mexico, the Kenworth Dealer Network is key to the success of the Kenworth experience. In addition, it offers preventive and corrective maintenance. It also guarantees the prompt supply of auto parts.

Of the total Kenworth tractor-trailer production in Mexico in 2023, 53.3% was exported, while that indicator was 57.5% in 2024.

Kenworth trucks are exported from Mexico to most countries in the Americas, mainly the United States.

Investments

Substantially all trucks are sold to independent dealers. The Kenworth and Peterbilt brands are marketed and distributed in the United States through independent divisions. In Canada, distribution is through a foreign subsidiary. In addition, Kenworth operates through subsidiaries in Mexico and Australia.

By 2025, capital expenditures are estimated to be between US$700 million and US$800 million. In turn, R&D investment will range between US$460 million and US$500 million.

PACCAR continues to invest in its truck plants. Projects include expansions at Kenworth Chillicothe (Ohio), PACCAR Mexico and the DAF truck assembly plant in Eindhoven (The Netherlands).

Investments in the global engine business include increased capacity in manufacturing and remanufacturing. In addition, the company will allocate between US$400 million and US$700 million to its battery joint venture, Amplify Cell Technologies.
