In particular, shipments from Mexico were for 19.917 million dollars, a growth of 14% year-on-year.

While Canada’s exports of these types of products totaled 14.283 million dollars, those of France totaled 3.482 million.

The Mexican Ministry of Economy indicated that agricultural trade between Mexico and the States amounted to 32.165 million dollars during the first semester of 2021, and continues to be one of «the great success stories» of the region, since it showed a growth of 21.9% compared to the same period in 2020.

In this sense, Mexico maintained its position as the main agricultural commercial partner and the largest supplier of these products to the United States.

Agri-food goods

The implementation of several large fiscal stimulus packages, accommodative monetary policy, and the successful vaccine launch program are helping the US economy quickly recover from the global Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the Australian government, American consumers are returning to previous patterns of activity and confidence is increasing as jobs return.

In addition, the recovery in world trade should boost exports and rebuilding manufacturing inventories following supply chain disruptions should contribute to growth.

The IMF projects that the US economy will grow 6.4% in 2021 after a 3.5% drop in 2020.

Other prominent suppliers of agricultural and agri-food goods to the United States in the first half of this year were Italy (3,228 million dollars) and Singapore (2,314 million).

The per capita GDP of the United States is among the highest in the world, but it declined in 2020 due to the loss of jobs and income in the wake of the pandemic.

Moving forward, the IMF forecasts that US GDP per capita will rebound from 2021 and approach US $ 80,000 by 2025.

But long-standing income and wealth inequalities persist, the Australian government added.

Total imports of agricultural goods to the United States in the first half of 2021 totaled $ 83.135 million, a growth of 14.1% year-over-year.
