The U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC) highlighted a number of opportunities with the FIFA World Cup in Mexico in 2026.

This event is the most prestigious soccer tournament, held every four years, and the United States, Mexico and Canada will host it in 2026.

According to USDOC’s market analysis, the event is expected to generate an influx of around 5 million visitors, which will result in an injection of approximately US$3 billion into the Mexican economy.

A first benefit lies in the integration of advanced technologies, as it is crucial to manage the influx of visitors and ensure a smooth operation during the FIFA World Cup.

Therefore, intelligent traffic management systems, real-time data analysis and security solutions represent areas of opportunity.

In addition, the Mexican technology market is projected to experience annual growth of 7.5% between 2023 and 2026.

This growth rate indicates solid opportunities for technology companies offering innovative solutions, such as IoT devices, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence-driven applications.

Opportunities with the World Cup

USDOC highlights that the Mexican government and host state governments will allocate significant funds to improve transportation networks and hotel infrastructure.

With investments estimated at $500 million for stadium renovations and more than $2 billion for transportation and urban development, project management expertise is expected to be in increasing demand.

In addition, expertise in sustainable construction and smart city solutions will be needed.
