As exportações de smartphones se diversificam globalmente

Smartphone exports diversified globally in 2023, with the top three countries losing market share.

With a wide lead in the top position, China‘s exports fell at a year-on-year rate of 1% to $137 billion.

Globally, China accounts for about one-third of manufacturing output and is the largest exporter of products.

According to UTime, consumer electronics and networked communications products have increasingly shorter upgrade cycles. This phenomenon has generated high demand in the global market. Moreover, this rapid development is expected to continue in the future. However, shortening upgrade cycles and increasing demand also intensify competition.

In the case of handsets, the trend is clear. On the one hand, demand for basic devices is steadily declining. On the other hand, smartphones are rapidly gaining ground. However, their upgrade cycle is faster, making demand for them more volatile and unstable.

Smartphone exports

The world’s population is increasingly using smartphones. These devices have benefited from the advancement of technology. There is strong adoption of 5G networks. Satellites enable increasing geographic coverage. Video and still cameras are becoming more powerful with each new year. Artificial intelligence has positively impacted virtual assistants.

After China, among the largest smartphone carriers were positioned Vietnam ($26.5 billion) and Hong Kong ($26.63 billion).

These are the 10 economies from which the largest smartphone exports originated in 2023, in millions of dollars:

  • China: 137,000 (-1 percent).
  • Vietnam: 26,500 (-21 percent).
  • Hong Kong: 26,300 (-3 percent).
