Singer-songwriter Manuel Mijares highlighted the love and competitiveness of Mexicans in his country and in his work.

Mijares has taken his music to several countries outside Mexico, from nightclubs in Japan, to the Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas, United States, and the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile.

Competitiveness of Mexicans

“I have the opportunity to travel many places, many countries. And the truth is, the recognition of all the people of those countries for Mexico is admirable, in all areas, in all manufacturing, the people, their people, their customs, the food. So, I think we have to be there and show the pride that we have to have for Mexico, which we all have,” he said.

He made this comment at the presentation of the Made in Mexico Advisory Council at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy.

Mijares recommended: “Always do things right”. Then he said that suddenly someone in Mexico starts complaining about the street or that there are potholes. But he added that all in all, Mexicans love Mexico.

“The truth is, you are away for three days and what you want is to return to Mexico. For me, luckily, it was my turn to be Mexican and I feel very proud to be Mexican. I feel proud to be able to take all my people, the people who work with me, who are all Mexicans,” he said.

Among his main hits are the songs Soldado del amor, Bella, Uno entre mil and No se murió el amor.

“You see the way they (Mexicans) work, how they get on the stage, how they get off, like without any fear. And that’s why we have worldwide potential,” he concluded.

Made in Mexico

On February 18, 2025, the Mexican government relaunched the “Made in Mexico” seal to strengthen the identity and competitiveness of Mexican products. This measure responds to tariff threats from the US and is part of Plan Mexico, an economic strategy promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
