Mexico, Canada and China were, in descending order, the top exporters of auto parts to the United States in 2024.
From around the world, the United States imported automotive parts with a customs value of $192.397 billion in 2024, registering a year-over-year increase of 2.3%, according to Commerce Department data.
Main auto parts exporters
Among the leading countries in this ranking, the two neighbors of the United States stand out first, as they have the advantage of proximity and solid integration in regional value chains.
This is followed by three Asian nations with homegrown automotive companies that are highly competitive globally: China, Japan and South Korea.
Here are the top auto parts exporters to the U.S. market in 2024, in millions of dollars and year-on-year growth rates:
- Mexico: 82,456 (+3 percent).
- Canada: 19,165 (-2.7 percent).
- China: 14,655 (+1.7 percent).

Companies and GDP
Globally, the auto parts industry is characterized by strong, diverse and fragmented competition and comprises a large number of automotive parts and aftermarket suppliers.
Companies of all sizes operate in the sector, ranging from large multinational corporations serving both OEMs and the global aftermarket, to small local entities with a more limited supply.
In 2023, automobile and truck manufacturing in Mexico contributed 752,255 million pesos to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), at current prices.
The following year, in 2024, with data as of the third quarter, this same manufacturing totaled 801,774 million annualized pesos.
The term “annualized millions of pesos” refers to an amount of money that, although it has been obtained in a period of time of less than a year, is projected to reach that same amount if the same rhythm is maintained for an entire year.
Mexico has a high level of competitiveness in the production of automotive parts. Several Mexican companies, such as Katcon, Sisamex, Vitro, Rassini, Metalsa, KUO and Nemak, are increasingly internationalized. These companies are expanding their presence in the global market. In addition, Mexico is the leading foreign supplier of auto parts to the United States.
