Walmart de México y Centroamérica opened 9 new stores in the first quarter of 2020 and increased its revenues 12.9%, year-on-year.
Of the total of its openings, three corresponded to Mexico: a Bodega Aurrerá, a Mi Bodega and a Bodega Aurrerá Express.

The other six new stores were located in Central America and all are Discount Stores.
Walmart de México y Centroamérica continued to invest in 2019 to expand its coverage with new stores.
That year, it achieved important milestones, reaching more than 2,000 Bodega Aurrera stores in Mexico, and in El Salvador opened its 100th store.
In addition, the company surpassed the opening of stores in the last five years, with 161 new stores in Mexico and Central America.
At the same time, Walmart de México y Centroamérica expanded its logistics network by more than 44,000 square meters in the Coyol distribution center in Costa Rica, making it the largest in Central America.

In 2019, the contribution of new stores to sales growth was 1.7%, slightly below the guideline as 50% of openings were made in the fourth quarter, as the contribution to growth of new stores in Central America was less than expected, given the market situation it faces.
To date, the trade names of its different business formats in Mexico such as Bodega Aurrerá, Mi Bodega Aurrerá, Bodega Aurrerá Express, Superama, Medimart and Prichos, are the property of Wal-Mart de México, S.A.B. de C.V., as well as the Aurrera and GRX brands.
On the other hand, the trade names of the Walmart and Sam´s Club business formats, as well as the various proprietary brands such as Great Value, Equate, Members Mark and Carrito Wal-Mart, etc., are registered trademarks owned by Wal-Mart , Inc or its subsidiaries.
